With more than a dozen golf courses set among spectacular natural beauty, no matter what your handicap, The Murray is a great place to tee off. Sweeping fairways follow the gentle curves of the river, lined with rows of river red gums and wattle, and the manicured greens are often dotted with kangaroos or flocks of native birds.
Howlong Golf Resort is a challenging 18-hole championship course, considered one of the best all-weather courses in the area. There is a resort on site with a pool, tennis courts, bowls and croquet courts, as well as two restaurants. It hosts the popular Top of the Murray annual tournament along with nearby Corowa Golf Club and Thurgoona Golf Course. The former is a 27-hole golf course and the proud home of Marcus Fraser (Tour Pro).
Set on the NSW banks of the Murray River, Cobram Barooga Golf Club has two championship-standard golf courses, 18 holes of mini golf, four state-of-the-art golf simulators, and now its own PGA Tour of Australasia event.
With red river gums and native fauna as a backdrop, the three unique golf courses at Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort are not to be missed. With a combined 45 holes to play, you will want to spend a few days at the club's resort, which offers activities for the whole family including a boutique cinema, tennis courts, swimming pool, health and fitness centre, award-winning lawn bowling greens and croquet, and an indoor kids’ activity area.
Hit the driving range at Rich River Golf Club or play one of the two 18-hole championship golf courses. An 18-hole mini golf course, golfing simulator and 63 rooms of accommodation including a pool and spa complete the offering.
Murray Downs Golf and Country Club is considered one of the best golf courses in The Murray. Located on the river, the award-winning 18-hole championship golf course has excellent facilities including the Clubhouse, which is open year-round and offers a variety of activities.
Black Bull Golf Club in Yarrawonga is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Peter Thomson and Ross Perrett. Make a trip of it and play and stay at the club's boutique resort. In Albury is the superb Commercial Golf Course, a picturesque 18 holes with tree-lined fairways. Visitors are welcome all days.
A scenic drive northwest is Tocumwal Golf Club’s immaculate 36-hole course and less than an hour away is Deniliquin Golf Club’s picturesque course. An hour southwest of Deniliquin is Barham, where you can play on the cluBarham’s 18-hole championship course.
The superbly maintained Mildura Golf Resort is an 18-hole championship golf course, created on red sand with true fairways and many undulations. The peaceful resort is conveniently located just outside the city centre.
