The Sturt’s Steps Touring Route approximates the route taken by explorer Charles Sturt when his Inland Expedition came into NSW Corner Country in 1845. The route connects about 1100 kilometres of sealed and unsealed roads from Broken Hill to Milparinka, Tibooburra and Cameron Corner to create a circular touring loop and outback adventure experience for all visitors.

The route traverses landscapes from the rugged Barrier Ranges to the desert dunes of the north west, providing travellers with a range of driving experiences.

The newly signposted route features interpretation centres with expedition and settlement history as well as information about the first nations of the area.

Road trippers can discover Sturt’s refuges at Depot Glen, Lake Pinnaroo and Fort Grey, plus a new sculpture trail reflects the nature, history and messages of the land along the way. Museums in Milparinka and Tibooburra are all part of the Sturt's Steps experience
