Enlighten Buddhist Film Festival at Nan Tien Temple offers a unique cultural experience in Wollongong, located at the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere. This immersive spiritual festival blends cinema with mindfulness, inviting visitors of all ages to explore Buddhist philosophy, meditation, delicious vegetarian foods and tranquil gardens.
Curated by Sandra Pires, an award-winning film director and producer, the festival presents 12 national and international films from both Asian and Western perspectives. Attendees can enjoy thought-provoking documentaries and inspiring stories, alongside complimentary workshops and panel discussions led by industry experts. The event is designed to be inclusive and engaging for all age groups, providing a welcoming atmosphere for families, individuals, and practitioners of all levels.
This event offers a rare opportunity to experience mindful living through the lens of film, deepening understanding of Buddhism and its influence on everyday life. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or new to Buddhist teachings, the festival provides an enriching experience. Experience two festivals when you visit the Temple over the long weekend; the film festival is on at the same time as the Buddha's Birthday Festival, where we have activities for all ages.
For full immersion, stay at Pilgrim Lodge. This project was funded by a Wollongong City Council Grant.
