Sunday begins with Transcendence, music that feels timeless and eternal, yet intensely present. Pärt’s Fratres, emerging from eight years of silence, speaks directly to the soul. He said “there is so much divine power and beauty in music that whoever has ears, let them hear.” Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, composed in a WWII prisoner-of-war camp, is extraordinary and transforms the listener in profound ways.
