Coolangatta, founded by explorer Alexander Berry in 1822, was the original settlement in the Shoalhaven area. A ship called Coolangatta was wrecked off the coast of Queensland and gave its name to the Queensland Coolangatta. Shoalhaven's Coolangatta is the original.
Coolangatta is situated near the mouth of the Shoalhaven River and the southern end of Seven Mile Beach. It is only one kilometre from Shoalhaven Heads.
Visit the historic Coolangatta Estate Winery, the largest winery in the Shoalhaven, and enjoy a stroll through the historic grounds. It has lovely surrounds, three restaurants, a nine hole golf course and has accommodation for up to 120 people.
