Enngonia is located on the banks of the Warrego River, 97.3 km north of Bourke. The Enngonia Races are a yearly event encouraging patrons from all over Australia to attend a great day of fun.
The races are steeped in history.
Official racing is recorded as far back as 1877, with the Enngonia Jockey Club holding meetings twice a year.
The Enngonia Amateur Race and Enngonia District Race clubs succeeded and held meetings until the First World War.
It was in 1922 that the current race club was formed, which is now known as the Enngonia Picnic Race Club and held a two-day meeting apart from the Second World War in 1939.
