Overview
The Fort Bourke Stockade is a re-creation of the stockade built by Major Thomas Mitchell when he was in conflict with the local Traditional Owners. The stockade is located 16 kilometres out of town on a road that passes beside a particularly beautiful wetland alive with birds. The replica fort is little more than a few logs near the river.
