The club pays tribute to one if it’s founding members David Gosby by holding the David “Goose” Gosby Memorial Competition each year in October.

David tragically drowned whilst surfing one afternoon after school whilst surfing with mates. David was a founding member of the Port Macquarie Bodyboarding Association back in 1987. David’s memory lives on through this event and is of huge importance not only to the club but to the Mid-North Coast region as it is one of the longest-running memorial contests in bodyboarding history.

The David “Goose” Gosby Memorial has also recently become a part of a “Memorial Triple Crown Event” that includes the Jeff Wilcox Memorial held in Forster and the Barron/Viner Memorial held on the Central Coast. The Memorial Triple Crown is where competitors can compete in one or more of the above memorial events to accrue points to win the overall Memorial Triple Crown Title for their division and is now one of the major events on the Australian Bodyboarding Calendar.
