Located at the intersection of Burbie fire trail and the walking tracks to Mount Exmouth and Bluff Mountain, getting to this remote campground is half the adventure.
From Split Rock picnic area, walk around 6.7km along Burbie fire trail, towards Mount Exmouth, soaking up the beautiful mountain and woodland scenery along the way. After a steep push up to Danu Saddle, you'll arrive at Danu camp. This flat area nestled in dry eucalypt woodland is just big enough for you and your friends to pitch a few small tents.
From here, there's plenty to explore. Cathedral Rock and Cathedral Arch are a short walk away. If you're feeling energetic, continue the climb 2.3km up to Mount Exmouth for sunset views from the 1206m summit. Photographers will love the panoramic 360-degree views of the Warrumbungle's volcanic rock formations.
Head back to camp for a tasty evening meal except for the local wildlife you'll have the place to yourselves. The stunning night skies are just one more great reason to stay overnight here in Australia's first Dark Sky Park.
