Wollondilly Scenic Drives

Touring Wollondilly behind the wheel and at your own leisure is one of the best ways to not only cover lots of ground and sights but also the perfect opportunity to take in the open roads, wildlife, green pastures and fresh air. Just over an hour from Sydney and at the foothills of the Southern Highlands, Wollondilly has 17 towns and villages each with their own rich personality.

There are six mapped drives that give visitors a hint of Wollondilly’s historic past and beautiful present. From the original residents, the Gundungurra, Darug and Dharawal tribes, to the pioneering settlers and bushrangers that have shaped what Wollondilly is today.

As you drive, enjoy the tapestry of Mother Nature’s mountains, lakes, gorges, wildlife, flora and fauna. Take in the enduring skill of man, in the form of five amazing catchment dams, which is also a great place to take a break and enjoy a picnic.

The six drives present endless choices for visitors whether they are seeking major tourist attractions like the NSW Rail Museum, hidden gems like the Bargo River Viaduct and everything in between.
