In preparation for his solo exhibition, Googong, Gary Martin spent hours studying the features of this distinct landscape within the Southern Tablelands region in New South Wales. Noticing subtle shifts in light and seasonal changes in the flora, the artist expertly conveys a sense of place.
Recognising and highlighting visual accents within the topography, Martin creates compositions that feel natural but are stylised at the same time.
