Over 27 years ago, Richard and Janet de Beaurepaire decided to pioneer winemaking at Rylstone, Central Ranges of NSW rather than alongside relatives in the Yarra Valley. They turned a very cool climate (as cold as Tasmania) and limestone-soil valley into a celebrated 55-hectare vineyard that now yields 18 wines.

Inspired by the family's Burgundian origins, the wines are farmed regeneratively and made with a minimum of intervention to capture their 'unique to Australia' terroir. Their wine style could be described as 'French wine' in Australia.

De Beaurepaire Wines is a true family business with the next generation, Will, joining the business full-time in 2018. Will also makes wine under his own Rylstone Estate label which he does in partnership with his great mate, James Wilkinson.

The family's wines are now found in many of Australia and Fiji's most luxurious hotels and great restaurants and bars.

The cellar door is famous for immersive guided wine experiences. In particular, family members can take visitors on vineyard walks and hour-long wine experiences in their renewed and rebuilt 180-year-old cellar door buildings.

De Beaurepaire Wines is one of only four wineries rated 5 Stars by the Halliday Wine Companion for 2024 in the Mudgee region. In 2018, De Beaurepaire Wines was also the first NSW winery to be awarded Australian Wine of the Year by Winestate Magazine.
