It is a local favourite for birdwatchers as over 90 species of endemic and migratory birds have been spotted here.For those looking to see kangaroos in Bathurst this is a great spot with the Kangaroo Walking Track branching off as a detour at about the halfway mark. Taking the Kangaroo Walking Track detour will add 10 minutes onto the walk before rejoining the John Cousins Walking Trail.
The track can be started from the Vietnam Veterans Park on Boundary road reserve, with the start signposted just 20 metres past the yellow gate at the end of the car park.
