Great Southern Nights in association with Funhaus Factory presents Mikelangelo In The Belly Of The Whale, part journey across the wild seas, part voyage into the depths of the human soul.
Mikelangelo is the alter ego of songwriter and creative dynamo Michael Simic. For twenty five years, he has travelled Australia and the globe as a solo performer and fronting his long term group Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen. He has packed venues and garnered accolades from the Sydney Opera House to London’s West End, releasing fifteen independent albums and building a worldwide following.
In The Belly Of The Whale is a new solo show by acclaimed Croatian Australian singer, songwriter and performer Michael Simic. In this rambunctious musical adventure, discover how Simic first came face to face with his charming alter ego Mikelangelo, and how the two have been inextricably linked ever since. Weaving songs and storytelling into magical, mysterious voyage into the unknown, this is a show filled with laughter, emotion and imagination. It is a story of the blurred lines between the creator and the creation, and the balancing act between being an artist and a father and husband.
In The Belly Of The Whale is a clarion call to accept that no matter how far the ravel, you will always hold parents, and ancestors, within.
