Yarrangobilly Caves

Lea and her family have found themselves a very cosy cave.

 

 

Yarrangobilly Caves are located within the Kosciuszko National Park, just 6.5kms off the Snowy Mountains Highway. Formed in a belt of limestone laid down about 440 million years ago, the caves are some of the most beautiful to be found in Australia.

There are three caves – South Glory Cave, Jersey Cave and Jillabenan Cave – and they’re all breathtaking. Take a tour and uncover this hidden gem for yourself.

Caves House

 

Reopened last August, for the first time since the 60’s, Caves House has attempted to recreate the experience of that bygone era. It’s comfortably furnished in a style that reflects the time. There are two wings and each has been carefully restored to offer self-contained heritage accommodation, including a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, family/lounge room, verandah and outdoor barbeque area.

 

 

To see South Glory Cave you do a self guided tour, and to see Jersey or Jillabenan then you need to do a guided tour.

 

 

Also on site is a thermal pool which is a warm 27 degrees all year round

In the afternoons there are about 10 kangaroos that come up to the lawn in front of Caves House. They’re beautiful and very friendly but keep in mind you are not allowed to feed them.
